Letter by Julie Hysmith 3/22/14 CCMayor Tammy de Weerd Meridian City Council Members 33 East Broadway Avenue Meridian, ID 83646 ~ ~+ March 22, 2014 c°/j~,, ~~~ ~ ~.~ ~,~,,~ FRO Q~~i~F~ When many of the homes were purchased in Jackson Square, the buyers were informed "townhomes" would be built on the land now identified as Centrepoint Crossing. Then the property was to be used for an apartment complex. Then the property was to be split - part to be duplexes - to be individually sold -and part to be a 55+ complex. The duplexes were built BUT not as we were told they would be built. Landscaping not similar to Jackson Square (gravel in place of landscaping). Colors and design not complimentary to Jackson Square. Exact same color, design, roof lines, windows, etc. used on all 28 units. The 28 units are ALL rental units, NOT ONE sold to a family and/or an individual! The 55+ complex is now NOT to be built. Instead, 40 units will be built using the identical interior plan as used for the construction of the duplexes, but with different roof lines and exterior finishes. Again, we have been informed, these are going to be sold to families and/or individuals. Really? My personal opinion is the interior plan suggests additional rentals! When the 40 units are built and rented, where are the three vehicles per unit going to be parked? Picard is not wide enough for two way traffic plus parking on one side. Currently, the 28 duplexes use ALL of their garage space, driveway space AND the street parking space - sometimes using both sides of the street. The impact construction of this magnitude will have on the Private Road known as Picard is incomprehensible! Picard is a connector road for Eagle Road and Ustick Road -two of the heaviest traveled roads in Ada County - EVENTHOUGH IT IS A PRIVATE ROAD BECAUSE IT WAS NOT CONSTRUCTED TO ADA COUNTY STANDARDS! Jackson Square residence had no say when Picard was constructed, nor did we have any say when changes were made to Eagle Road and Ustick Road causing Picard to be used as a connector. Since Jackson Square residence ARE currently responsible for part of the maintenance -caused by wear and tear...which will increase if this construction is approved plus the increased liability, we are requesting that the Plat Approval be delayed until Picard is brought up to ACHD standards and deeded to ACHD. Sincerely, Julie Hysmith 2903 N. Centrepoint Way Meridian, ID 83646
