14-974 For Destruction of Certain PD RecordsA CITY OF MERIDIAN RESOLUTION NO. 14-974 BY THE CITY COUNCIL: BIRD, HOAGLUN, ROUNTREE, ZAREMBA A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO DESTROY CERTAIN SEMI- PERMANENT RECORDS OF THE MERIDIAN POLICE DEPARTMENT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council have the authority pursuant to Idaho Code section 50-907(4) to, by resolution, destroy semi-permanent records, upon the advice of the City Attorney, and with such disposition to be under the direction and supervision of the City Clerk; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk has identified certain semi-permanent records that may be destroyed pursuant to Idaho Code sections 50-907(2) because the time period for retention of such records has expired; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN CITY, IDAHO: Section 1. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized to direct and supervise the destruction of the following semi-permanent records of the Police Department: POLICE YEAR(S) DESCRIPTION Semi- ermanent Records Animal Control Records 1978 through 1998 Includes Animal Complaint Reports for lost dogs, dogs and cattle at large, barking dogs, and cruelty to animals Crime Reports (DRs) for 1978 through 1998 Includes Crime Reports for non- other crimes major crimes Impounded & Abandoned 1978 through 1998 Includes Abandoned/ Impounded Vehicle Records Vehicle Reports Property and evidence 1978 through 1998 Includes records used to track control and disposition of property and evidence coming records into the police department's possession. Not included are property and evidence control and disposition records that are embedded with a crime report (DR) as those are retained according to the retention period established for crime reports. Traffic Collision Reports 1978 through 1998 Includes Traffic Collision Reports RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING DESTRUCTION OF POLICE DEPARTMENT RECORDS PAGE 1 OF SZ • APPROVED: not embedded within a crime report Section 2. That the City Clerk is authorized to take all necessary steps to destroy the records as provided by this Resolution. Section 3.
