E-mail from EK to MAC - July 9Emily Kane From: Emily Kane Sent: Tuesday, July 09, 2013 5:44 PM To: 'Mary Jensen'; Nancy Rountree; 'Leslie Mauldin'; Dwight Williams (dwight5332@q.com); Stephanie Barnes (Stephanie6@aaillc.com); brianschreinerartist@gmail.com Cc: Robert Simison; Brian McClure Subject: Information for MAC meeting on THURSDAY Attachments: Proposal packet.pdf; Public Input2 - MSC2 Public Art Project.pdf; 7-9-13 Message from CJ Rench. pdf Hi, again. As you know, the Selection Panel met on July 8 to review the proposals for the Meridian Split Corridor Public Art Project and the public comment collected over the past few weeks. This message provides a summary of the Panel's recommendation so you can give it some thought prior to your deliberations at Thursday's Arts Commission meeting - but to avoid any violation of the Idaho Open Meetings Law, please do not discuss this information with each other, except on the record. (This includes any a-mail discussion.) The Selection Panel recommendation has two parts: First, the Panel recommends that the large piece submitted by Delia DeLapp be installed at the south parcel, but that the smaller component of her proposal (the hands) not be installed at the north parcel. Second, though understanding that this is outside the scope of its charge, the Selection Panel also recommends that the City explore commissioning the "complementary" piece suggested by C.1. Rench ("The Star of the West")for the north parcel instead. I am attaching information submitted by the three finalists with their proposals and information regarding the public comments on the proposals. I am also sending an email exchange with Mr. Rench that resulted after I updated him (and the other finalists) on the Selection Panel's decision. Thank you and see you on Thursday.
