Good morning Sonya, (Terri)
As you know this has been a difficult development to get a solid plan on that would work for notjust an emergency
response but also be designed appropriately for a tactical police response if needed.
After reviewing the development in Harris Ranch and finding it very lacking in police response planning, and talking to
John Carpenter about the issues, I have come up with this response for police on this development.
The concerns on the development all revolve around the alley loaded streets in which one side of each alley has houses
that face a common area, not a public street. We need to insure that emergency services are able to respond efficiently
and effectively and tactically to that area when needed.
With that in mind, we would approve the design of this development with alley loaded streets if there is clear signage at
both sides of each end of the alleys, signifying the addresses of the house off of the alley facing the common
area. Further, that all of the same houses off of the alley, facing the common area have their address posted on the
front of the home as well as the alley loaded side to aid emergency response in locating their residence. These houses
would be address off of the main street coming off of Locust Grove, Wrightwood Dr, as that would be the main entrance
used by responding emergency vehicles coming in off of Locust Grove. These issues are also outlined in the addressing
plan that was submitted with an example of the signage at each end of the alleys.
