In the above mentioned instrument, the specific number of car ports is outlined. The owner wishes to modify the number of car ports on the site plan to 138, see attached proposed site plan. As justification for this request, Owner references the recent code amendment that was approved by the city council, which modified the required number of covered parking stalls in amulti-family development. The proposed site plan would be compliant with the updated code. We strongly supported the code modification that reduced the number of required parking stalls. We believe the city has used sound judgment in seeing that an overabundance of carports in a project actually detracts from the aesthetics of the architecture and landscaping that developers and city staff work so hard to design and plan. The view corridors are opened up to the residents and create a much more livable and interactive atmosphere. The change in the ordinance brings Meridian City's code more in line with other markets and thus put Meridian city in a better position to compete for growth.
