Subject: Application AZ 12-011, by B1, LLC for Annexation and Zoning
of 5.46 acres of land, CUP 12-016 for Conditional Use Permit
of a Storage Facility for Citadel Self-Storage located at the
southwest corner of Chinden Boulevard and N. Saguaro Hills
Avenue, Meridian, Idaho.
Attention: Jaycee L. Holman, City Clerk
Please make copies and pass-on and/or-read aloud this letter of
objection to the subject Storage Facility under consideration as noted
above. Please enter this letter of objection in the minutes of the
7:OOPM, November 15, 2012 of the Meridian Planning and Zoning
Commission of the City of Meridian.
My family owns a home and property within 100 feet of this proposed
facility. The of the reasons we purchased this home in 2010 was for the
neighborhood of newer homes and quiet atmosphere. Due to the
property owners financial support the Home Owner's Association, all
the properties are well-kept and that make it an attractive place to live
The proposed storage facility is a gross insult to all the property owners
in a 500 radius around the 5.46 acre property. Since when was a
storage facility ever placed in such close proximity to a residential
neighborhood? Then to add insult to personal financial injury (decrease
. `
in home values) the access to the storage facility is off N. Saguaro Hills
the only North entrance to the neighborhood.
If you collectively, the Planning and Zoning Commission are planning to
turn this pristine neighborhood into an instant slum, then vote for this
approval. I will guarantee 911 calls will increase, the crime rate will
increase and the neighborhood will deteriorate, plus all the other
domino factors that go with an area deterioration, and all these will
cost the City of Meridian and Ada County over time.
Are you aware that, dangerous and explosive materials i.e. firearms,
ammunition, chemicals meth labs etc.) can be stored in these facilities,
next-door to residential homes, Guess what that liability is to the City
of Meridian and Ada County!!
Remember 35% to 65 % of items stored in a storage facility are from
people that don't have garages or storage sheds of their own. That
means typically these are transient people that live in apartments or
homes without a storage area. And are people looking for cheap place
to house their personal or stolen possessions or illegal lab materials.
Do you really want your vote to create liabilities that may befall the
city and county within 100 feet or closer to residential homes? Put
the facility in an industrial, manufacturing or commercial zone.
