12-1503 City Code Amending Duties/Responsibilities of Director Positions
CITY OF MERIDIAN ORDINANCE NO. I a' ~ S u 3 BY THE CITY COUNCIL: BIRD, HOAGLUN, ROUNTREE,LAREMBA AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, AMENDING TITLE 1, CHAPTER 8 OF THE MERIDIAN CITY CODE, RELATING TO THE TITLES, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF DIRECTOR POSITIONS; WHEREAS the City of Meridian appoints Department Directors as prescribed by Meridian City Code; WHEREAS the position of Planning Director has now changed to Community Development Director; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, ADA COUNTY, IDAHO: SECTION 1. That Title 1, Chapter 8, Section 1 of the Meridian City Code is amended to read as follows: 1-8-1: APPOINTMENTS BY MAYOR: A. Specific Appointments: The mayor, with the consent of the city council, shall appoint all department directors of the city of Meridian including city attorney, public works director, chief of police, fire chief, communit, dY evelopment directar, parks and recreation director, and chief financial officer. The mayor with the consent of the city council may add or change other appointed positions as necessary to effectively operate the city. Additionally, pursuant to the Idaho Code the mayor with the consent of the city council shall appoint a city treasurer, and city clerk. SECTION 2. That, pursuant to the affirmative vote of one-half (1 /2) plus one (1 } of the Members of the full Council, the rule requiring two (2) separate readings by title and one (1) reading in full be, and the same is hereby, dispensed with, and accordingly, this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon approval.
