Broadway Avenue Meridian, ID 83642 • Mayor Tammy de Weerd City Council Members: Keith Bird Brad Hoaglun Charles Rountree David Zaremba RE: Unified Development Code (UDC) Text Amendment -Narrative Mayor & City Council Members: In accord with UDC 11-5, the Planning Department requests approval to amend the text of certain sections of the Unified Development Code (UDC) to include general clarifications/clean- up items; standards for pathway lighting along the Eagle Road corridor; and allowance for a Council waiver of certain stormwater integration standards. The general clarifications/clean-up items proposed with this application represent changes that City Staff believes will make the implementation and use of the UDC more understandable and enforceable as well as cleans up inaccuracies in the code. The proposed amendment to Chapter 3 Article H, Development along Federal and State Highways, includes standards for lighting along the Eagle Road/SH 55 corridor multi-use pathway. Currently, there are no specific lighting standards, only a reference to the Eagle Road Corridor Study which does not include specific pathway lighting standards. Adopting specific standards will provide for uniformity in lighting levels and design along the corridor. The proposed amendment to the Stormwater Integration section of Chapter 3, Article B, Landscaping, allows for Council waiver of certain standards pertaining to the design of stormwater facilities relating to the use of gravel, rock, sand or cobble, and the slope of facilities where they are not located within aright-of--way. This amendment is proposed at the request of ACHD. Planning Department . 33 E.
