AND 2 OF SUB-SECTION C [EMPLOYEE BENEFITS] OF SECTION IV [EMPLOYEE CLASSIFICATION, COMPENSATION, AND BENEFITS] OF THE PERSONNEL POLICY MANUAL AND ENACTING NEW SUB-PARAGRAPHS 1. AND 2. OF SUB- SECTION C OF SECTION IV PERTAINING TO VACATION LEAVE AND SICIC LEAVE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, IDAHO: SECTION I: Tllat sub-paragraphs 1. a11d 2. of sub-section C of Section IV of the Person11el Policy Manual is hereby repealed. SECTION 2: That tllere is hereby added to Sectioll IV of the Perso11nel Policy Ma11l1al11ew sub-paragrapl1s 1. and 2. of sub-sectio11 C to read as follows: c. EMPLOYEE BENEFITS 1. Vacation Leave. Although not required by law, the City of Meridian provides paid vacation as one of tIle 111allY ways in which it shows its appreciation for employee's loyalty and service. City ell1ployees ear11 vacation leave in advance of whe11 they are eligible to use it. Vacatio11 ca11not be used before it accrues. Vacatio11 accrues froIn the start of ell1ploY111e11t based 011 allniversary date. The lnonthly accrual rate for elnployees is ShOWll in Table 1. Sicle leave benefits are provided to regular full-time elnployees at the rate of 8 hours per lllonth, and lllay accumulate up to 90 days or 720 hours, and then sicle accruals will cease until hours have been tal<.en. Sicle accrues froIu the start of elnploYl11ent based 011 anniversary date. AIl elnployee is eligible to use sicle leave after one lllonth of employment. Sick leave hours accrued for a particular lTIonth call110t be used in advance, or during the month they are to be earned. As a lTIatter of policy, sicl<.leave shall be COl1sidered a privilege rather than a right of eluploY11lent. Accrued sicle leave hours Inay be used for: Personal illl1ess (including luaterl1ity related or luedical disability); Persol1al injury; Illlless or quara11til1ed of eluployee's ilulnediate faluily necessitating the el1lployees absence frOlTI worle. (IlTIluediate faluily is defined as any relative who resides with the elnployee alld who depends upon the elnployee for regular care; Personal or l1ledical related appointl11ents, including annual wellness exa111S, coul1seling, del1tal checle-up, etc; ProvisiollS under the Faluily and Medical Leave Act of 1993 that provides leave to certain employees who qualify.
