Thanks, Bill From: Nick Capezza [mailto:ncapezza@vinylsiding.org] Sent: Monday, August 02, 2010 9:08 AM To: Bill Parsons Subject: CPAT-10-001 Good morning, Thank you for the updates made in the proposed document. Jim Smith from EBS Siding will be attending the August 5th hearing as a representative of VSI. Should you have any further questions, you may direct them to Jim or to me via email or phone. We have one additional suggestion that might not only help the use of vinyl siding but all claddings in Meridian. Architectural thought must be placed regardless of the type of exterior cladding use, especially on a large wall area, whether it be stucco or fiber cement or vinyl siding. We would ask you to consider the two suggestions below to E-2.5.2.4.1 as you consider changes. 1. "Vinyl siding maybe appropriate if it creates interest in the design by using a mix of material patterns (e.g. board and batten, horizontal and vertical lap, shake or shingles), colors, and accented corner posts. Vinyl siding is discouraged as an exterior material applied to cover large wall areas unless the above criteria is used". OR 2. "Vinyl siding maybe appropriate if it creates interest in the design by using a mix of material patterns (e.g. board and batten, horizontal and vertical lap, shake or shingles), colors, and accented corner posts. New text as follows: "When large wall areas are proposed, architectural embellishments should be used to reduce monotony issues." Thank you in advance for your consideration. We would be happy to discuss further via conference call if necessary. 8/4/2010 Page 2 of 2 .NicRw~ao Q.
