Following are a list of comments for the C. URBAN/SUBURBAN DESIGN GUIDELINES 2.0 ARCHITECTURAL CHARACTER: C-2.1.3.1 The building design and scale are designed specifically to transition from a light commercial area to a residential area. The building mass and form are traditional for LDS Church facilities, supported with an all brick cladding and a roof pitch of 5/12 to ground the proportional building features. C-2.1.3.2 The fundamental design principal revolves around a New England Classical style achieved with arching covered entries and aluminum store front vestibules bordered with a corbelling brick surround. C-2.1.3.3 The building fagade incorporates a variety of architectural elements such as brick cornices capped by sandstone metal, sandstone fiberglass shutters, and windows spaced in an orderly manner. Changes in elevation and plate heights define the primary and secondary entries. C-2.1.3.3.1 The building fagades are brick cladding featuring soft matching arches strategically placed on all four sides of the building- and rhythmically mirrored from North to South and East to West. 400 South Main Street, Payette, ID 83661 Phone 208-642-4452 Fax 208-642-4453 jol@Ejzarchitecture.com Gowland • Johanson • Zimmerman A r c h i t e c t u r e Commercial Educational • Medical Residential Church Planning C-2.1.3.4 The building is designed to encourage public access with a variety of entry locations on each side of the building. Landscape design accentuates each of the entries and softens all sides of the building, parking lot, and drive entries. C-2.1.3.4.1 The building design and material selection transition naturally from a light commercial district to the surrounding residential neighborhood. Sloped composition shingled roofs, window shutters, and a variety of landscaping seamlessly blends this building into the neighborhood. C-2.1.3.4.2 The building is comprised of a combination of building heights. The main entries are wider and higher- breaking up the elevation- but massive enough to support the length and height of the building. Smaller entries in various locations provide secondary exits. The main entries use an aluminum window/door treatment, while the bodies of the windows are sized on a residential scale to help keep a human scale. C-2.1.3.5 N/A -This building is not a mixed use development and the design for such would not be applicable. C-2.1.3.5.1 The fagade does incorporate a variety of mixed shapes and sizes that break the fagade up and add character. This is accomplished by using different sized gable entries and accents as well as using a combination of different materials and fenestration sizes. The building is a single use but is broken up into a rhythmic series of brick arches and gables. C-2.2.2.1 The building is comprised of a combination of building heights. The building design and materials transition naturally from a light commercial district to the surrounding residential neighborhood. C-2.2.2.1.1 The mass and scale of this building are designed in such a manner to accentuate the prominence of the steeple and "Church" function. The roof itself contains several gabled slopes, two -foot overhangs, five different elevation heights, and architectural shingles. All five entrances are consistent in style using a slow arch to accent each. The front elevation (facing N. Meridian Road), which houses the chapel, projects from the body of the building. Brick pilasters anchor the full height, stone tiled architrave nested in the gable face- adorned with an implied pediment framed by sandstone entablature sets to match the building entrances. The sandstone steeple perches above this entourage, mimicking the pediment style throughout the building by means of architectural relief, and a series of stepped cornice sets.
