Parks UpdateOverview of Meridian Parks Survey (Responses to questions are listed in order of importance) The number one thing that I got from the survey is that citizens of Meridian are not aware of what programs are occurring with the parks. We need to do a much better job of communicating with the citizens about our parks and programs that are offered. Why People Visit Meridian Parks: 1. Family outings 2. Walk and play with dogs 3. Sporting events soccer, softball, baseball 4. Play- water pad, skateboard, swim, disc golf, horse shoes 5. Exercise When You Visit A Meridian Park, It Is Usually: 1. Attend a family outing 2. Play with dog 3. Sporting event What Prevents You From Visiting A Meridian Park More Often? 1. Lack of time 2. Not enough shade 3. Don't feel safe- These responses was directed toward the skate park 4. Live to far away- Many of these responses were from non- Meridian Citizens 5. Dogs off leash 6. Cleanliness of Restrooms 7. Weather- Time of Year The responses to this question were varied. There was not a particular problem that stood out. The responses were individual and aimed at a particular park that the individual attends. Do You Have A Suggestion For How Meridian Parks Can Be Maintained Better? 1. Restrooms need to be cleaned and maintained more often. -Many responded 2. Dog control- campaign to get people to clean up after their dogs. Signage about cleaning up, dog waste dispensers 3. Landscaping needs to be improved at some parks 4. More landscaping, flowers etc. 5. Pick up garbage more often 6. Police checks more often to stop vandalism.
