RE: Design Review Application
Heroes Park — Restroom/Concession & Maintenance Buildings
Meridian, Idaho
Mr. Thornton:
Please find attached the design review submittal -for the Heroes Park
Restroom/Concession and Maintenance Buildings. Both the Restroom/Concession
Building (1,220 s.f.) and the Maintenance Building (1,480 s.f.) will serve various
functions (and groups) at Heroes Park. The Restroom/Concession Building will house
both Men and Women Restrooms in addition to the Concession Room, which will be
used primarily during the PAL Soccer season, but also for other public/private functions.
A shade trellis is also proposed at the concession's area to further articulate the building.
While both buildings are utilitarian in nature, the focus of the design is directed to the
exterior materials and finishes., Because of varying programmatic needs, the
Restroom/Concession Building walls are comprised of split -face C.M.U., while the
Maintenance Building is wood framed with a natural -looking fiber cement board siding.
The buildings are ultimately connected via the zinc -coated aluminum standing seam roof.
These materials were specifically selected because of their natural characteristics, in lieu
of a brighter primary (or similar) color scheme.
We believe the design of these buildings is consistent with the°spirit of Meridian's D.)
Suburban Design Guidelines and will be a nice complement to this beautiful park setting.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions and/or comments regarding this
submittal.
Sincerely,
a
W e en AIA, Principal
