I am writing to you in support of permitting the fence waiver as requested by the
above parties. --• - _. ._ - _ _ .._ _ _
I live next door to Ms. Tafuri. As I drive into the Cedar Springs community I
notice that exactly at the corner of Alexis and Ashton (Tafuri residence), is where
the developers of Cedar Springs have narrowed the streets and are building the
houses closer to the curb. The house directly across the street from Ms. Tafuri is
only a sidewalk and small yard width to the street.
By permitting the waiver you will be installing an element of safety for all drivers
and children in the area because hopefully drivers will notice a difference in the
surroundings (however slight), and slow their vehicles as a natural reaction.
Additionally, there is a curve just °/2 blocks ahead of the Alexis/Ashton
intersection which could benefit if this fence is installed as requested.
I plan to live in this community a very Tong time and I do not think the aesthetics
will suffer at all with this waiver. In fact, as I mentioned, I believe that fencing as
requested will be a safely net for all concerned.
Please favorably consider and grant this request.

Dear Ms. Powell,
We are writing this letter to you in protest to the proposed Waiver from the fence ordinance regarding the
property located at 3752 N. Alexis Way and 3775 N. Price Way. We own two homes is this subdivisior-,
3841 and 3612 N. Price Way.
We arc totally opposed to the proposed fence waiver. When we bought in here we agreed to abide by the
CC&R's that exist to protect property values_ As you can see by the copy of the fence requirements, this
waiver is not acceptable. We plan to live hc:rc for a long time and as everyone: else here has agreed to
abide by the rules, there can be no gain in accepting waivers. Phis fence condition is stated clearly in the
CC&.lt's and we all expect everyone to play on a level playing field. A large part of the attractiveness of
this subdivision is the open feeling whets entering and these fences would totally distract from that very
feeling. We have some very expensive homes in here and it would be a shame to ruin the look and feel
that we have all worked very hard to maintain.

The following comments are to support a position AGAINST APPROVING TFIE
'VVA)('VER-
• The CC&R's require "For corner lots, the fence along the side street shalhbe at
least fifteen (15) feet from the back of the sidewalk. (The back of the sidewalk is
the side away from the street)."
• The rnap that was attached to the letter does not accurately describe where the two
homes sit within the subdivision. The two homes are on the major toad into the
subdivision at this time, Ashton.
• The Developer has .wide expanses of grass and trees and corner landscaped areas
as you enter for approximately four blocks into the subdivision common The
grass areas are all 15-20 feet wide before the fences.
• These two homes have their back yards together on the approximate fifth block,
and this would represent an inconsistency in the overall plan design seeing almost
one solid block offence five feet from the street.
. This is a new subdivision. The developer has not turned over the subdivision to a
homeowner's association as yet. Many homes are still being built and unoccupied
.. .. in the first two phases. ._ . _ .
• The home across the street from 3753 N. Alexis is still being built and for sale.
The owners to be yet determined certainly should have a say in this fence waiver
issue.
• Phase 3 is just starting, with 90 additional homes. The majority of these
homeowners will be driving up Ashton, past this fence and should be allowed to
have a voice in the waiver also.

• A waiver of this nature would start a precedent that could detract from the feeling
of openness the developer has achieved in the planning of the subdivision.
