Purpose of proposed fence: The proposed fence is needed for (1) safety for future park
users, and (2) to prevent unauthorized access to the subdivision's second pressurized
irrigation pump station. The location for this pump station (already installed and
operational) was chosen with input from the HOA president, the utility companies, and the
engineer. The fence has been built in advance of variance approval for safety reasons and
with the full knowledge of the City's engineer. It is a six-foot cedar fence, 14' square,
with a double service gate facing S. Pelican Way.
The restrictive covenants for the Landing Subdivision prohibit chain link fencing, thus the
need for solid/cedar fencing. The proposed fence (material and location) meet the
restrictive covenants of the subdivision.

The Fence Variance Committee of the City of Meridian met at 4:30 P.M., May 22, 1996, in City

After due consideration, the Committee decided to allow construction of the 6 foot tall wooden
