Very little trees and landscaping. There is relatively grass cover throughout most of the grounds. There is an sive large lighted parking lot, and what appears to be a foot- >6a11 field with no bleachers and track facility. Also, there is ,~.,, ra._ !;baseball stadium with dug outs, no fencing, some backstop fencing. r. !here is hard court surfaced play area with some fencing and no ;~; eight lighting, 4 tennis courts in it. This could potentially be a community park facility with a tremendous amount of develop- iBent added to the facility. '' The next inventory site in Meridian is the elementary school -ft :~ grounds located at the dead end of W. State Avenue along W. First Street and the other side borders on Fourth Street. The Brea is quite sizeable in grassed area, not very sufficient land soaping. Very few trees in and around the play area. There is a hard court surfaced play area with 6 basketball goals on it, various tether ball courts and court games, numerous softball fields and playfield areas. There is a playground apparatus area in gravel (with numerous slides, swings, teeter totters, climbing apparatus, !etc. Very little lighting in the school ground area, if any. Ilhe grounds definitely have a potential, with some additional development, as being a neighborhood park This would be Neighborhood Park ql The next inventory site in Meridian is at the corner of W. Second n U E Street and Cherry Lane. This is the LDS Ward House. Has an extensive playfield area, several softball play areas with backstop fencing, bleachers, etc. The parking lot area is quite extensive. They have established several basketball courts on the parking lot area; good multiple use. There is also a water fountain and some very nice landscaping in the area. This will be Mini-Park ~1 The next inventory site in Meridian is the Meridian City Pool in the city park, the only city park in Meridian. This is quite a nice small park, very small for this sized town. Does have some very good road work within the park, several picnic tables throughout the park, very nice trees, good grass cover, several barbecue pits, one water fountain, and one children's play apparatus area with merry-go-round, teeter totters,`swings, climbing apparatus. No lighting in the park,. except over one small parking area in front of the pool. There is a swimming pool here, appears to be Olympic size with diving end Again, the park is very small It is lighted for night use. I understand that the land adjacent to this park to the east is city owned and has been considered at onetime as possibly additional land for a city park. In the advent that this land were purchased, we are suggesting that it should be utilized as an extension of this city park. Without an enlargement of land and scope of activities in this park, the park can't be classified as a community park. Therefore, they would. still need a community park in this end of town.. The first parcel, Parcel N1, this would be a piece of the existing Meridian city park. The area is quite level and could be utilized without extensive earth work for playfields, playground area, type of development. Also, it could be landscaped and more picnic and open space areas provided with the possibility of some group picnic sites. This area would be Community Park #2, if the parcel of land and other .development would occur. Adjacent to this same area is the Meridian Speedway area which is just a large lighted speedway arena with wooden bleachers. Some parking adjacent to the area. Would be Special Use Area #1. An additional inventory site in Meridian would be the Meridian City Cemetery. This area is about 1 block to 2 blocks down Franklin Road from the city park going east. The area is quite old, landscaped, very nice trees, very scenic area. Would be classified as Special Use Area.#2. The next inventory site in Meridian is a Mini-Park facility • located between Second Street East and Third Street East along East Pine Avenue. The area is a small lot sized area of green grass and some trees, several picnic tables, some swings, and play equipment. It does fit the mini-park criteria. It will be Mini-Park #2. The next inventory site is a small park like area run by the Church of God. They have the grounds of their church meeting grounds park like with grass and some very nice trees. Evidently this site is 'used periodically for summer camp meetings for church groups. This does provide a open space green area in this end of town and will be Mini-Park #3. The next inventory site in Meridian is the Mid-High School • building. This building is older, evidently older school building. Has quite nice grassed areas with very old and established trees. There is an area of 4 tennis courts with some fencing. There also is some large playfield areas adjacent to the school. This would fit into neighborhood park development with additional development: This would be Neighborhood Park N2. The next inventory site would be a potential neighborhood park site. It is on the school ground that is being built. Located west of the community along Linder Road. Could be Neighborhood Park ~3 l J
