BY THE CITY COUNCIL: BIRD, HOAGLUN, ROUNTREE, ZAREMBA
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, AMENDING TITLE 3,
CHAPTER 6, SECTION 16 OF THE MERIDIAN CITY CODE, RELATING TO
MA5SAGISTS AND MINORS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Meridian, by and through its Mayor and City Council, are
empowered to pass ordinances related to the health, safety, and welfare of the
community; and
WHEREAS this ordinance has not been updated for a number of years and the standards
and practices of the industry have changed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, ADA COUNTY, H)AHO:
SECTION 1. That Title 3, Chapter 6, Section 16 of the Meridian City Code is
amended to read as follows:
3-6-16: PROHIBITED ACTS:
It shall be unlawful for any perse~r licensee, or their agent or em l~oyee:
A. Minors Restricted: To permit any person under the age of eighteen (18) years to come
or remain on the premises of any massage establishment for the purpose of receiving
a massage ,unless
such licensee, agent, or em l~oyee is in the possession of notarized, written consent
from a parent of such minor specifically authorizing such licensee, a
em l~oyee to massage such minor, which writing shall remain on file with the
licensee, a eng t, em l~oyee, or establishment.
B. Liquor Prohibited: To sell, give, dispense, provide or keep, or cause or permit to be
sold, given, dispensed, provided or kept, any alcoholic beverage or liquor on the
immediate premises of any massage establishment.
C. Employ a Minor as an Employee, Massagist or any Unlicensed Massagist: To em l~oy
a minor as an em l~oyee or massagist of an establishment or T to employ any person
as a massagist unless such person has obtained and has in effect a license issued
pursuant to this Chapter.
D. Allow Prohibited Acts To Be Performed: Owning, renting, leasing, operating, or
managing a massage establishment, and knowingly to cause, allow or permit in or
about such massage establishment, any agent, lessee, employee, or any other person
under his control or supervision to perform such acts as may be prohibited bylaw.

SECTION 2. That, pursuant to the affirmative vote of one-half (1/2) plus one (1) of
the Members of the full Council, the rule requiring two (2) separate readings by title and
one (1) reading in full be, and the same is hereby, dispensed with, and accordingly, this
Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon approval.
