BY THE CITY COUNCIL: BIRD, HOAGLUN, ROUNTREE, ZAREMBA
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, AMENDING TITLE 6,
CHAPTER 2, SECTION 1 RELATING TO ANIMALS RUNNING AT LARGE;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS the City of Meridian has established ordinances that prohibit dogs
from running at large; and
WHEREAS, the City does have available locations within the City that will
allow dogs to able to run "off leash" in designated areas; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, ADA COUNTY, IDAHO:
SECTION 1. That Title 6, Chapter 2, Section 7 of the Meridian City Code is
amended to read as follows:
6-2-7: RUNNING AT LARGE:
A. Dogs: It shall be unlawful for any dog owner to allow or permit any dog, whether
licensed or not, to be or remain upon the streets or alleys of Meridian, or in any public
place in Meridian, or upon any other premises without the consent of the person in
pes~sessieu control of such ether premises, unless:
1. Such dog be is in the custody of a person and controlled by a leash not exceeding
six feet (6') in length, and if the property is privately owned then also with the
permission of the person in control of such premises; or unless:
2. Such dog be is confined in a motor vehicle.
3. Such dog is located upon a Cit~pproved and designated "off leash" area or park.
SECTION 6. That, pursuant to the affirmative vote of one-half (1/2) plus one (1) of
the Members of the full Council, the rule requiring two (2) separate readings by title and
one (1) reading in full be, and the same is hereby, dispensed with, and accordingly, this
Ordinance shall be in full force and effect upon approval. ``
