1987 09-15~~ ~ ';~' ~ ~ ~ # ~~ ~ ~ r- ,~ A ~ ` B ~ ~ 1 ~ ~ a • • _ MERIDIAN CITY COUNCIL SEPTEMBER 15, 1987 Regular Meeting of~the Meridian City Council called to order by Mayor Grant Kingsford at 7:30 p.m.: Members Present: Bill Brewer, Ron Tolsma, Bert Myers, Bob Giesler: Others Present: Earl Ward, Julie Stutts, Wayne Crookston, Steve Wherry, Walt 2•Zorrow, Dale Rosebrock. The Motion was made by Myers and seconded by Tolsma to approve the minutes of the previous meeting held September 1, 1987 as written: Motion Carried: All Yea: Item #1: Dale Rosebrock, APA: Dale Roesbrock was present to update the Mayor & Council on the , Meridian Planning Area population forecast. This dealt with prior forecast made and the adjustments that were being made to those fore- casts: Department Reports: Walt Morrow, Chairman of the Planning & Zoning Commission announced Tom Cole would be submitting his resignation from the Commission effective October 1, 1987 due to being transferred to Idaho Falls and suggested that City of Meridian thanking him for his participation on the Commission. The City_Clerk was instructed to prepare a letter for the Mayor's signature. Councilman Giesler: I have had some complaints about milk products _ _ being sprayed and dumped on the Meadow Gold property located on Lanark Street, it is creating a bad odor and a very bad fly problem with the other businesses located out in that area. Councilman Brewer and Councilman Tolsma also advised they had been contacted on this. It was the concensus of the Council that Central District Health and the Division of Environment be contacted to see if this problem could be taken care of. Councilman Tolsma: I drove back behind the Creamery Building and if that pile of gypsum is moved there is really a large amount of junk back there. The City Attorney was instructed to proceed to do some- thing on this. Councilman Myers: I have a report from the City Engineer that the preliminary report on the Secondary Clarifier is in and things are moving along. City Clerk: The Senior Citizens want to put a street light-down by the center on the lot when they moved the house off, they are using this for a parking lot and there is a good pole already there and they have asked if the City would have a street light installed there. ' , :: ~`F.~IBE12 15 , .1987 • # 2 • There was discussion on this by the members of the Council and it was their decision to have a Street Light installed at his location. Mayur Kingsford: For the Councils information we did accept the new City Hall yesterday, therefore we are the proud owners of the new City Hall and will be moving the 25th of September. City Clerk: For the Councils information I received a call a few days ago and in someones estate they found a Sewer Bond that was issued in 1928 and was due in 1936. The face amount was $500.00 and in doing some checking there is the possibility that the City might have to pay the face value of this Bond.
