This application is to be completed by organizations applying for community recycling funding.
Please note: We can only consider applications for projects within Meridian city limits; which
pertain to recycling; which have a 1:1 matching component; and which contain recycled content
ff applicable. A sign must be placed on or near the project stating that ff was funded in part by the
Meridian curbside recycling program. Please return completed application to Sanitary Services,

Meridian Academy is a school of CHOICE. It emphasizes: Character, Honor, Opportunity, Inauirv,
Community and Excellence.

Meridian Academy is a school committed to environmental awareness. Recycling is a bigpart of
the school's environmental awareness proclram. Currently there are recycling bins in each
classroom and in the library, commons area and gym. Students get the clear message to recycle.
This particular project would be a continuation of the recycling_ project in place. Last year the
school purchased outdoor tables and benches and indoor benches made of recycling materials.
This grant would also provide funding for the school to gurchase needed fumiture made from
recycled materials to build a "green" school library. This grant also includes recycled fumiture for
Crossroads, Pathways and Central altemative schools libraries which are much needed. See
attachment for more information.

Describe how the community recycling funds will be used, the schedule for the project, and how

The community recycling funds will be used to qurchase recycled indoor fumiture for Meridian
Academy's school library which will be relocated in the school commons area. The school will
match the funds from its budget, with supplies, recycled bookshelves ,and labor which will be used
to install the fumiture. It also includes three other Meridian Joint District No. 2 altemative schools in
the grant. Each of these schools would gurchase recycled fumiture to create seating and a secure
book drop in their libraries. Theproject schedule is attached.

The sign will be a computer routed sigh made of recycled plastic. It will be mounted on a piece of
the recycled fumiture.. The sign will say" The fumiture in this library_are made entirely of rec cy led
plastic materials. Thanks to the citizens of the City of Meridian for their efforts through the Curbside
Recycling Procaram to help fund the purchase of this fumiture.
