Our plan is to remove all of the old unsightly buildings presently located on the 2.96 acres formerly occupied by Meridian Pine Company. After the removal of these buildings we purpose to erect a commercial building of Engineered Structural Steel Construction. The steel building purposed is to be a permanent white color and its appearance will be an asset to the community. Your consideration is appreciated. Present were Mr. Bruce Stuart from the City of Meridian, Dlr. Vern Shaver of DEVCO, Inc., Mr. Bob Sommer of .Sommer Construction Company and Mr. Karl Ames of J-U-B ENGINEERS, Inc. The inspection showed that the construction of the facilities was sub- stantially in accordance with the plans prepared by our firm. The following is a "punch list" of items to be completed by the contractor: 1. The fire hydrant located at the Northeast corner of West Washington Street and Linder Road was too low and will need to be provided with a 18" - 24" extension. 2. The lip of the valve box located near the intersection of Carlton Street and West Thirteenth Avenue is cracked and needs to be replaced. 3. The valve box located at the South end of Guest Twelfth Avenue was found full of gravel which needs to be removed. It was felt that this work is minor and need not hold up final acceptance by the City of Meridian. J-U-B ENGINEERS, Inc., will at a later date provide the City with record drawings showing changes that were made during construction that were not shown on the plans. Sincerely, J-U-B ENGINEERS, Inc. Storey Mayor, City of Meridian 728 Meridian Street Meridian, Idaho 83642 Dear Mayor Storey: Idaho Operations Office 422 West Washington Street Boise, Idaho 83702 September 24, 1975 RE: Meridian Sewerage Treatment C-16 0183 /Yr'~'"~ This letter is a formal response to our meeting of 9/18/75 and your letter of 9/19/75, regarding problems encountered in the Sewer System Evaluation Survey for the City of Meridian. As discussed previously, the problem involves abandoned flush tanks on the ends of lines where excessive infiltration/inflow is present. In order to gain access to these lines and thus provide technical services (T.V. work), it is necessary to excavate down to the line and construct the rudimentary foundations of a manhole just below each abandoned flush tank. There are approximately twenty flush tanks in the system, and between seven and ten of these are on the ends of lines in which excessive infiltration/ inflow is believed to exist. The work which is necessary to gain access to the line is proposed to be done on a force account basis, and has been estimated to cost approximately $5,000. In accordance with regulations published in Section 35.935-2a of the February 11, 1974 Federal Register, we hereby approve this force account work, subject to compliance with Sections 35.927 to 35.927-5. One final note should be added. Since these manhole foundations will probably remain open until some distant date, adequate safety precautions should be taken by covering the holes until construction can be completed.
