BY THE CITY COUNCIL: BIRD, BORTON, ROUNTREE, ZAREMBA
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, AMENDING TITLE 2, CHAPTER 2,
MERIDIAN CITY CODE, RELATING TO THE REGULAR MEETING TIME OF THE
MERIDIAN PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION; PROVIDING FOR A
WAIVER OF THE READING RULES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, for several months, the Meridian Parks and Recreation Commission has
noticed and convened a special meeting at 6:00 p.m. preceding its 7:00 p.m. regular meeting, in
order to hold workshops and subcommittee discussions;
WHEREAS, at its regular meeting on May 14, 2008, the Meridian Parks and Recreation
Commission voted unanimously to recommend that City Council amend Meridian City Code §
2-2-5 as set forth below in order to designate 6:00 p.m. as the regular meeting time; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Meridian finds that this amendment will
serve the public interest by improving operational efficiency;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, ADA COUNTY, IDAHO:
Section 1. That Chapter 2, Title 2, of the Meridian City Code be amended to read as
follows:
2-2-5: MEETINGS:
The commission shall meet regularly each month at a time and place determined
by the commission. The regular monthly meeting shall be held at se~erre's~es~
i~:nn~~~ six o'clock (6:OOZp.m. on the second Wednesday of each month
unless, at the first meeting of each calendar year, the commission shall establish a
meeting schedule for the calendar year in which event the published schedule
shall apply. All meetings shall be open to the public and shall be publicized; the
commission shall allow and promote public participation in the meetings of the
commission. The commission shall also review and comment on any needed
changes to the city's comprehensive plan as it relates to parks and recreation.
Additional meetings of the commission may be scheduled by the commission as
necessary to carry out the business of the commission.
SECTION 2: That pursuant to the affirmative vote of one-half (1/2) plus one (1) of the
Members of the full Council, the rule requiring two (2) separate readings by title and one (1)
reading in the full be, and the same is hereby, dispensed with, and accordingly, this Ordinance

shall be in full force and effect on the day of , 2008, its
passage, approval and publication.
