504 Uniform Fire Code11'7 ORDINRNC~ ~i@. 5Q4 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2-1001 OF THE REVISED AND COMPILED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN TO ADOPT THE 1988 EDITION OF THE UNIFORM FIRE CODE WITH AN APPENDIX AND EXCEPTIONS; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Meridian, State of Idaho, have concluded that it is in the best interests of said City to amend Section 2-1001 of the Revised and Compiled Ordinances of the City of Meridian to re-enact said Section with changes effective as set forth hereinafter; NOWT THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MERIDIANS ADA COUNTY IDAHO: SECTION 1: That Section 2-1001 of the Revised and Compiled Ordinances is hereby amended to read as follows: 2-1001: ADOPTION OF FIRE CODES: (A) Uniform Fire Code. The Uniform Fire Code is adopted for the purpose of regulating an governing conditions hazardous to life and property from fire. The uniform Fire Code, 1988 Edition, including appendix VI-D, is hereby adopted with the following exceptions to the code: 1. Section 80.303 (a) 6D (i) page 332 the exception shall read as follows: "EXCEPTION": Upon approval of the fire chief, emergency response kits re- commended by the Chlorine Institute may be used for chlorine gas product leaks in lieu of the treatment system requirements of this section as long as there are two respondents who are trained in their use locally available. 2. In Section 80.102 {b), page 319, the definition of "CYLINDER" shall read as follows: CYLINDER: Is a pressure vessel designed for pressures higher than 40 pounds per square inch absolute and having a circular cross section, and shall include one-ton containers used for chlorine gas. (Balance remains the same.) Said Fire Code, three (3) copies of which shall be on file at all times in the office of the City Clerk on the City. shall be made a part of this Code as if set out in length herein. SECTION 5: EFFECTIVE DATE: WHEREAS, there is an emergency therefor, which emergency is declared to exist, this Ordinance shall be in full force~~and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication according to law.
