ORDINANCE N0. 480
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 1, CHAPTER 7, OF' THE REVISED AND
COMPILED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF MERTDIAN, BY THE ADDITION
OF A NEW SECTION TO BE NUMBER 1-702A AND ENTITLED COUNCIL
SEATS WHICH WILL ASSIGN A NUMBER TO EACH SEAT AND REQUIRE THAT
CANDIDATES SEEKING ELECTION TO THE COUNCIL SHALL FILE FOR 0'NE
OF THE ASSIGNED SEATS; AND PROVIDING ANaEEFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS,, the City Council and the Mayor of the City of
Meridian have concluded that it is in the best interest of
said City to assign numbers to each council seat, all as provided
,~ by•Idaho Code~;~,Section 50-707, such that any candidate seeking
election to the council shall file for one of the assigned seats;
WHEREAS, this Ordinance must be adopted one hundred twenty
days prior to the next general election and whereas there are
more than one hundred twenty days prior to the next general
election.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor of the -City of
Meridian, and the City Council of the City of Meridian, Ada
County, Idaho,
SECTION 1. That Title 1, Chapter 7, of the Revised and
Compiled Ordinances of the City of Meridian, entitled THE COUNCIL,
is hereby amended by the addition of a new section to be known
and numbered as 1-702A and to be entitled COUNCIL SEATS, .arid said
section is hereby enacted and shall read as follows:
1-702A: COUNCIL SEATS: Pursuant to Section 1-702, as
stated above,. two (2) councilmen are elected at each
election for a term of four (4) years and thus there
are four (4) council seats on the City Council; from
and hereafter, each council seat shall be numbered, as
alloc~,ed by Section 50-707,' Idaho 'C'ode, and the City Clerk
shall assign the following num ers to each seat: Seat 1,
Seat 2, Seat 3, and Seat 4.
Any candidate seeking election to ahe Meridian City
Council shall file his candidacy for one (.1), and
~~ only one (1), council seat. The candidate shall meet
all other qualifications for the office of City Council
man, as required by law.
For purposes of the next general city election and ~p the
public will be informed a.s to which council seat weal be
~e~lected at the next general city election,~Coune~lman B~.11
Brewer is hereby deemed to now be holding Seat. 1,. Councilman
Ron Tolsma Seat 2, Council J.E. (Bert) Myers, J`x.~~eat 3,
and Councilman Bob Giesler Seat 4. Due the ~ac,t that
Councilman Brewer and Myer's term exp~,re at the exid o~ th.e year
and 'they are now. deemed to hold seats .l and 3„ respectively,

Tuesday following the first Monday in November 1987, seats
1 and 3 shall be the council seats for which city council
candidates shall file. In the general city election held
in 1989 seats 2 and 4 shall be elected.

Henceforth, the odd numbered council seats and the even
numbered council seats shall be elected alternate general
city elections.
SECTION 2: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Ordinance shall be in
full force and effect from and after its passage, approval
and publication, according to law.

IN THE CITY OF MERIDIAN WHICH IS DESCRIBED AS THE S 265 FEET OF THE E
z OF E 1/2 OF~W 1/2 OF THE SE1/4 of SW 1/4, SECTION 1, T 3N, R 1W, B.M.,
ADA COUNTY IDAHO ALSO KNOWN AS 1111 W. CHERRY LANE, MERIDIAN IDAHO.
WHEREAS, The City Council and the Mayor of the City of Meridian, Idaho
have concluded that is in the best interest of said .City to amend and
change the zoning from "R-4" Residential to "L-O" Limited Office for
the following described land:
S 265 feet of the E 1/2 of E 1/2 W 1/2 of the SE 1/4
of SW 1/4, Section 1, T 3N, R 1W, B.M., Ada County, Idaho.
