AN ORDINANCE AMENDING T~TLE 2, CHAPTER 1, OF THE REVISED AND COMPILED
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, ENTITLED BUILDING CODE, BY REPEALING
SECTION 2-101 ENTITLED ADOPTION OF BUILDING CODE AND ADOPTING A NEW SECTION
2-101 ENTITLED ADOPTION OF THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE AND THE UNIFORM
BUILDING CODE BOOK OF STANDARDS.
WHEREAS, the City Council and the M~Y0r-6f the City of Meridian have
concluded that it is iilthe best interest of said City to amend Title 2,
Chapter 1, Section 2-101 by reapealing the present Section 2~101 and adopt~
ing a new Section 2~101 to be entitled Adoption of the Uniform Building Code
and the Uniform Building Code Book of Standards.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF MERIDIAN, ADA COUNTY, IDAHO:
Section 1. THat Title 2, Chapter 1, shall be amended by the repeal of
Section 2~101 thereof and the adoption of a new' Section 2-101 to be entitled
ADOPTION OF THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE AND THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE BOOK OF
STANDARDS and tb read as follows:

2-101: ADOPTION OF THE UNIFORM BUILDING CODE AND THE UNIFORM BUILD-
ING CODE BOOK OF STANDARDS: There is hereby adopted by the
City of Meridian for the purposes of establishing rules and regulations for
the construction, alteration, removal, demolition, equipment, use and
occupancy, location: .and maintenance of buildings and structures, including
permits and penalties, that certain building code known as the UNIFORM
BUILDING CODE, 1982 EDITION, of which not less than three copies have been
and now are filed in the Office of the Clerk of the City of Meridian, and
the same are hereby adopted and incorporated as fully as if set out at
length herein, and from the date on which this Ordinance shall taRe effect,
the provisions thereof shall be controlling over the construction of all
buildings and other structures therein contained within the corporate limits
of the City. There is also hereby adopted the Uniform Building C6de Book
of Standards, three copies of which have been and now are filed in:the
Office of the Clerk of the City of Meridian; provided, however, that the
following exceptions shall apply to the Uniform Building Code Book of
Standards:
"Regardless of the provisions of the Uniform Building Code
Book of Standards, the City of Meridian shall not allow gravel
to be used for foundations in the construction of any building
within the City of Meridian.
Section 2. WHEREAS, there is an emergency therefor, which emergency
is declared to exits, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force
from and after its passage, approval and publication as required by law'.
