ORDINANCE NO. 350
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE I, CHAPTER 7, ENTITLED THE COUNCIL OF THE
REVISED AND COMPILED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF MERIDIAN, ADA COUNTY, IDAHO,
BY THE REPEAL OF SECTION 1-702, AND THE ENACTMENT OF A REPLACEMENT THEREOF.
WHEREAS the City Council and the Mayor of the City of Meridiian, Idaho,
have concluded that it is in the best interest of said City to amend Title I,
Chapter 7, Section 1-702, for the reason that State Statute 50-702 does not
require councilmen to be elected from ward or precincts,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MERIDIAN, ADA COUNTY, IDAHO:
Section 1. That Section 1-702 is hereby repealed.
Section 2. That Section 1-702 is hereby replaced by the addition to
Title 1, Chapter 7, of the following section:
1-702 Two Councilmen Eelected At Each Election: At each ~lecti6n' her~after,
there shall be elected two councilmen for a term of four years, or
until his successor is elected and qualified from the electorate at large.
Section 2. WHEREAS, there is an :emergency therefor, which emergency is
declared to exist, this Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and
after its passage, approval and PUblication as required by law.
PASSED bY the City Council and approve the Mayor of the City of Meridian,
Ada County, Idaho, this 4th day of Septem r, 979.
