AN ORDINANCE AJ.VJENDING FOR EIECTRICAL CODE OF TEE CITY OF MER1DIAN, PItOVIDING FOR T~
UPDATING CF THEl CODE AND ADDING LICENSE COSTS AND RENE."WALS AND INSPECTION FEES IN THE
CITY OF ~~RIDIAN.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MERIDUN, ADA COUNTY ,IDiI.HO:
2-301: NATIONAL EIECTRICAL CODE !DOITED: All electric wiring, insta.1lation of electrical
fixtures, apparatus or electrical appliances, for furnishing light, heat or power, or-other
electrical work introduced into or placed in or upon or in any way connected on any building
or structure wi thin the limits of the City of Meridian shall be in conformity with the
provisions set forth in the 1968 National Electrical Code, Standard of the National Board
of Fire Underwriters for Electrical Wiring and Apparatus as Recommended by the National
Fire Protection Association, including amendments thereto. 'l'he "1968 National Electrical
Code, Standard of the National Board of Fire Underwriters for Electric Wiring and Apparatus
as Recommended by the National Fire Protection Association, including Amendments thereto"
is hereby adopted as the electrical code of the City of Meridian under and by virtue of
authority granted by the provisions of Section 50-2002, Idaho Code, three (3) copies of the
above adopted code being on file in the office of the City Clerk and properly certified a.s
the officially adopted and certified electrical code to the City of Meridian.
2-313: LICENSE FEES; Before any license is issued the applicant shall pay to the City
Clerk a license fee in accordance with the following schedule;
Electrical Contractor $25.00
Journeyman Electrician 5.00
Apprentice Blectrician None
2-314: EXPIRATION AND RENEWAL OF LIcENSES: All licenses shall expire on December 31st
of each year and shall be renewed not later than the following Janue.ry 15th upon reyment
of $10.00 for Electrical Contractor and $.;3..00 for each Jou:rneyman Electricia,n. In the
event a license is not renewed by January 15th then the renewal rate shall be the sa.me
as the cost of a regular license.
2-315: Before any inspection is undertaken, the applicant shall pay to the City Clerk an
inspection fee in accordance with the following schedule:
TEl"lFORARY SERVICES: A temporary service is a. service entrance which will be used
for CONSTRUCTION pur~SES ONLY and which will be removed when construction is completed.
All other services are classified as permanent. No inspection fee will be required for
temporary services as herein defined. MINIMUM FEE: The minimum fee for any electrical
inspection other than a temporary service, $3.50.

2. RESIDEliJ"TlAL-SERVlCE ENTRANCE, I&'WIRING OR ADDITION. New service entrance or any
change in a.. service entrance and/or installation of any new circuit, distribution pAnel
or feeder, $3.50. New a.ddi tions or complete rewiring- same as new construction for
number of rooms wired. Inspection will not be required for minor repairs or alterations
where t~ere is no change in the service entrance',n9 additional circuit is re~~r~d and
the wir1ng cost does not exceed $25.00)! but the Wl.r1ng must conform to the prov1s1ons
of Section 54-1001 of the Idaho Code. ~ervice entrance for individual trailer or
mobile home, $3.50. .

be the cost to the owner of all labor and all wiring materials and equipment installed as
part of the wiring system. MOtors, utilization equipment, appliances and light fixtures
need not be included. ..,
