AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING CONTROLS _ AND STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR FOR
PERSONS mIDER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN (la) YEARS IN THE CITY OF MERIDIAN;

ORDINANCE A~'D UNLAWFUL FOR ANY PERSOH TO CONTRIBUTE TO ANY VIOLATION;
AND PRESCRIB ING THE PENALTY THEREFORE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE J.1AYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MERIDIAN, ADA COUNTY, WAHO:-
WHEREAS, the Constitution 01' the State of Idaho empowers the
Cities to make and enforce allsuch16cal police regulations as are
not in conflict with the genera] laws; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and City Council desires to establish controls
and standards of btlhavior for per::;ons in the city under eighteen (1$)
years of age in order to promote the safety and welfare of the resi-
dents of said city.

SECTION 1: It shall be unlawful for any person under the - age r -"
of eighteen (lS) years living or found in the city to be or t,Q,-rema::ih,__,
a person who has run away from his parents, guardian or other legai- /~- -_ _O'_~
custodian or who commits or has committed any act or acts placin~ _ ~ -~=-_::,
him beyond the control of his parents, guardian or other legal custodian - ::::
or :which constitutes behavior which would injure or endanger his health :: _ 2
or welfare or that of others, including without limitationwilfiil; asso~_-" -",
iation with thieves, or vicious or immoral persons, or USlllg vile, Qb$c~ne,
vulgar or indecent language, or being guilty of immoral condQctin~~',. .
public place or about any schoolhouse, or becoming or attempting to become
intoxicated by inhaling the fumes of gasoline, toluene or any other solvent,
or attampting to commit the act of suicide..
SECTION 2': It shall be unlawful for any person by any act or neglect
to encourage, aid or cause any per::;on under the age of eighteen (1$) years
to come within the purview of Section 1 of this ordinance.
SEX::TION 3. Violation of this resolution shall be punishable by im-
prisonment in the City of Ada County Jail for a period - not to exceed
thirty (30) days or by a fine of not to exceed $100.00, or by both such
imprisorunent and fine.
SECTION 4: An emergency existing therefore, this ordinance shall
become effective from and after the date of its passage, approval and
publicatjon as required by law.
Passed by the City Councj.l and approved by the Mayor of the City
of Meridian, Ada County, Idaho, this 3rd day of June, 1963.
