Dear Mayor Simison and City of Meridian City Council,
Quickly, an observa?on with the Burnside Plan that you are looking at this evening. I no?ced the rather unseen areas of
the plans for the lateral. I think this might be an opportunity for a hiding spot that law enforcement might not easily see
while on rou?ne patrols or residents might not be able to see their children playing around that hook on the plan.
I would suggest looking at this more closely. Since the lateral will likely be piped that will remove some dangers of open
waters and curious playful children from the equa?on, especially on this spot. This is a rather long strip that curves with
poor sightlines from the road as proposed, and with pathways this needs to be more open and visible. Open back of lot
fencing is not adequate on this long strip and curve, especially as backyard landscapes mature and views will be further
obscured.
Perhaps consider adding a road here, and a slight reorienta?on of the lots will create a safer and more visible situa?on
and the green plan?ng areas will have good lines of sight for the neighborhood, adding a small bit of green space for
roadside aesthe?cs. The engineers could make minor adjustments to make this a bit safer and remove that unseen area
element from the plan. See below. As a local road a slight adjustment should meet the local road requirements of 125-
? minimum between access points, measured centerline to centerline.
