Sonya:
We sent out the neighborhood meeting invite with a 1,000 foot radius. I had five residents
attend the meeting (see attached sign-in sheet). The discussion items were as follows:
1. Traffic increase on Waltman and the timing of the proposed improvements.
2. The current level of service for the Waltman and Meridian Road intersection.
3. They wanted the density reduced and would prefer elimination of the multi-family
component.
4. They want a berm and fence combination with heavy landscaping along the south
side of Waltman to buffer their views of the apartments.
5. We discussed the proposed multi-use pathways along Ten Mile Creek and the 10-
foot-wide sidewalk along the south side of Waltman. They are supportive the pathways and
would like to see a pedestrian friendly crossing to connect to the existing 4-foot-wide
pathway on the north side of Waltman
along Ten Mile Creek.
6. They want me to talk with ACHD and see if we can install fencing along both sides
of the Corporate Drive extension next to their homes. They claim we can't install a fence on
1
their property due to mature trees and landscaping. They want sight obscuring fencing like
Trex not wood or vinyl.
7. We discussed the berms, landscaping and fencing along the Interstate.
8. They want the property to be a Meridian Park and not be developed.
9. We discussed the Hawkin's proposal and site plan. They are convinced the
residential components will generate more traffic than the retail and office.
After an hour and half of discussion, they appeared to be calmer and more open minded. It
is apparent they will still object to any development on Waltman.
