CITY OF MERIDIAN
A DECLARATION ESTABLISHING THE ELECTION OF JOHN OVERTON TO
DISTRICT 4 - SEAT 4 OF THE MERIDIAN CITY COUNCIL; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, Title 50, Chapter 4 of the Idaho Code mandates a general municipal election
on November 7, 2023; and
WHEREAS, the position of Mayor and Districts - Seats 2, 3, 4, and 5 are all up for
election on that same elections date; and
WHEREAS, Incumbent District 4— Seat 4 Councilmember John Overton submitted a
Declaration of Candidacy for the office District 4— Seat 4 Councilmember timely and
appropriately as prescribed by law; and
WHEREAS, as of the filing deadline of September 8, 2023 for candidacy and/or write-in
candidate period no other candidate has filed for candidacy for District 4— Seat 4 Councilmember;
and
THEREFORE, BE IT DECLARED BY THE CITY CLERK OF THE CITY OF
MERIDIAN CITY, IDAHO:
Section 1. That pursuant to Title 50, Chapter 4, Section 405(2)(b)the City Clerk shall
declare such candidate as elected
Section 2. That, effective January 2, 2024, after properly taking the oath of office, as
required by law, for the office of City Council of the Meridian City Council, John Overton is
hereby elected to District 4 - Seat 4 of the Meridian City Council,which term shall expire January
4, 2028, unless otherwise prescribed by law;
Section 3. That this Declaration shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its
adoption and approval.
ADOPTED by the City Clerk of the City of Meridian, Idaho, this 19t" day of September,
2023.
