I wish to submit comments for the above hearing on July 11, 2023.
I have been a resident of Bainbridge since 2017 which is the most impacted subdivision for
Costco’s request.
I participated in all the presentations made by Costco and their partners during the pre-
construction hearings, etc. I did not agree with the City approving the site where Costco
now exists. Costco did work with area homeowners making some concessions and design
improvements. These were positive and Costco is commended for hearing our voices.
That said, Costco was very well aware of the conditions and requirements for them to gain
Council approval. With that understanding Costco constructed their building and began
operating under those guidelines.
Now they want to change these requirements at the detriment of residents in the nearby
areas. Again, as argued in their initial application several years ago, I offer that the
residential areas already existed when Costco came into the picture. It is not the residents
who should make any more accommodations for Costco or to suffer any disruption to our
enjoyment of our homes and our lives.
I therefore am requesting, in the strongest terms, that the Council NOT approve this request
of Costco.
