To follow up our discussion, below is a summary of what was discussed at the neighborhood meeting on April 4, 2023:
The meeting was attended by 11 people. Not everyone spoke. Nobody was strictly opposed to the proposal, but there
were questions & comments about noise and truck routes. A few key topics:

Truck Routes – It has come to Costco’s attention that trucks are traveling behind the building to reach the
loading docks. It was explained that trucks are supposed to use the NW driveway on Meridian for both ingress
and egress. Costco is addressing the situation by contacting the truck depot to instruct drivers to use the correct
route. For trucks that do happen to use the southern driveway, Costco will also install wayfinding signs in the
parking lot to direct them to the correct route.
Truck Volumes – Costco is not proposing to increase the volume of truck deliveries. Instead, they are seeking to
alleviate congestion during the morning and evening hours at the loading docks. Costco anticipate two trucks
during the hours of 3 to 5 AM (occasionally three), which will provide great relief to its staff to unload the trucks
in an orderly, safe fashion and reduce congestion in the parking lot. The additional hour in the evening will also
reduce the number of trucks waiting in the parking lot overnight to unload in the morning.
Sound Levels – Costco’s acoustical consultant explained that the additional trucks will add on average one
decibel to the existing baseline condition, which is well within accepted norms. The analysis is based on sound
readings taken over a two-day period including mornings and evenings. With the trucks using the approved
delivery route, the change in sound will be mostly imperceptible and could be an improvement to the existing
condition.
We have reached out to the HOA representatives to request their written feedback. We are hopeful their response will
be in support with the understanding that Costco intends to work in good faith with the neighborhood on this topic. We
will keep you posted if we receive new any new feedback.
