My wife and I reside in S. Meridian in a development very close to the parcel of land targeted for high density
housing. We both strongly oppose this plan! Your focus here should be on developing the needed infrastructure to
support current residents of S. Meridian. The congestion on Eagle continues to an escalating issue. We are constantly
having to drive north on Eagle under heaving traffic to get to restaurants, etc. We need a plan that keeps residents of S.
Meridian in the immediate area. Rezoning this parcel of land for retail and restaurants would help accomplish that
objective. I will also suggest that this parcel would provide a good location for a Post Office (again, an example of the
needed infrastructure to support current residents of S. Meridian).
I could go on with other examples of infrastructure needed to support current residents of S. Meridian. I believe you
understand our position here. A major concern we have for our immediate area is the impact of added housing in other
areas south of Victory such as the Trilogy development on Cloverdale. That project alone has already started to put
added pressure on infrastructure (e.g. road congestion) for residents of S. Meridian. And there will be more future
housing development projects – not less – coming along. We know this trend is only going to continue. This calls for
being proactive in meeting the needs of S. Meridian residents – not reactive. Rezoning this parcel would be one
important proactive step that the City of Meridian can take now.
Thank you for taking the time to hear our concerns.
Sincerely,
Winsor Jenkins
