Dear City Council Members
I am writing and representing the neighborhood of Sutherland Downs. We have 79 homes and would like to state that we
do not support the increase of homes in this particular project for the following reasons:
We are concerned about the increase in traffic on Victory, Eagle Road, Easy Jet, S. Bay Star Way, S. Titanium Avenue,
E. Publisher Street, S. Nephrite Way, and other neighboring streets east of Eagle Road. It would also increase street
traffic on the West of Eagle and South of Victory. The number of vehicles could increase to nearly 250 or
more. Presently those streets are greatly impacted.
We feel that building more homes/apartments in this area could also make it more difficult to access Eagle Road and
Victory Road. Another stop light might even be needed. The wait time at traffic lights presently is two to three lights
during most of the day.
We also have concerns about the irrigation/water issues that this will create. Presently we have issues at times with the
pressure and access to irrigation. New homes will only increase those issues.
Presently our walking path has greatly increased since it is open now to Eagle Road. This will also mean we will have
more people accessing the pathways behind homes that do not have a lot of protection from walkers.
We know also that Sutherland Farms residents are concerned about more people trying to use their PRIVATE park.
We would like to see something besides homes on this acreage. Perhaps something commercial would be better serving
the surrounding homes. If homes have to be built, we would hope that the number of homes would be greatly reduced to
about 25-30 max.
Meridian has always been a favorable place to live and would like to continue to be proud of open space and better
planning. We do ask the City Council Members to reconsider their present decision to add more apartments/homes in this
area.
