Dear Sonya ,
I am writing to you with great concern for the future expansion of 3123 So .
Titanium Ave . Meridian .
am the Assistant Executive Director and the Marketing Director here at The
Pointe at Meridian which is a new Senior Living Community on the corner of Eagle
Rd . and Victory . Having worked here for 1 % years , I have been directly involved
in helping Seniors move from their homes to our Community . Here we have a
continuum care campus . Meaning that we have Independent Living , Assisted
Living and Memory Care . Our Seniors can age in place here at The Pointe . There
is great concern that once the development just north of our community is open ,
that the city is going to make our street go through into this new area .
Having worked with Seniors for 28 years and here in Boise that whole time , I can
tell you that there is not one other community in the whole valley ( including
Nampa and Caldwell ) that has a major thorough fare running right through the
middle of it . We have a main building where our residents can enjoy apartment
style living , yet we also have independent cottages that are across the street .
These small cottages are more like little individual homes that have attached
garages and patios . The residents that live in these cottages have to come over to
the main building 3 times a day for meals . Their mailboxes are also located in the
main building . All Life Enrichment activities take place in the main building , along
with the Beauty salon . Having a busy road that separates the main building from
them is going to be very dangerous and detrimental for our residents .
Many of these residents use walkers to come over this way . We also have several
of them that don ' t hear well , so they would never hear a car coming up on them .
We also have a dog park for our residents that live at The Pointe . The dog park is
also located across the street from the main building .
I personally live just across the fence from The Pointe . In the morning , the traffic
on the corner of Eagle and Victory is very congested . If this street is put in and
goes through , people are going to blast down it and out the other end to avoid
the corner congestion . This is an accident waiting to happen . The residents come
over early in the morning at 7 . 00 for breakfast . This time of year , it is dark
outside . Having cars race through the community hurrying to work will be a
horrible situation for our residents . Their safety is a big concern . With more
traffic the tranquil setting that we have here at our community will be no more .
No one is ever going to want to move into one of the Cottages in the future if they
have to come across a busy road multiple times a day for food , activities and mail .
There are other options to get into that new area . Off Eagle Rd . , there is a fire
road that comes right down to the back of our building . If that road was paved , it
could come in from Eagle Rd . , go east for 80 - 100 yards and then turn and go
north into the new area . The road is already in place and is not part of the of this
community .
We are asking you to please reconsider having Titanium go through to the new
area . I invite you to come by and see how this community is set up so that you
have a clear picture of what I am trying to explain . I would be more than happy to
show you around .
