We expect a final design for next full MAC meeting on November 10. Five Mile Creek Pathway Trailhub public art – all artists have been notified of outcomes, and selection panel’s final decision will be presented by Lizzie Taylor at the next MAC meeting for approval by the Arts Commission. Mural Unveiling events – Cassie is drafting media releases and agendas, Joe Borton will be invited to take the Mayor’s place at Library unveiling due to Mayor’s unavailability, City’s video intern took video with the artists and hopefully the media will pick them up; Parks Identity Public Art RFQ – going out today or soon, open for 1 month, evaluation through Bonfire, we can have up to 10 artists/organizations on the roster, they have to score 80 or higher to qualify. Evaluators will include 2 MAC members, two Parks members, one community public art expert. The roster could be used for MAC public art projects, Cassandra will ask the Finance department if they can help us enter scores in Bonfire. 3. Discuss: Signage Plaques for Murals 3 Item 1. Signage needed for Meridian Cycles, unBound, Tully Park (2), and Meridian Pool. See plaque on Zamzow’s mural. We need to consider size of the plaque and location on the mural. Consider negative space on the sides. Size: 5”x7” or 4”x6”, depending on size of the mural. Include the MAC logo (and host logo if applicable), name of piece, name of artist, year. Ensure plaque materials are high-quality and weather-proof. Include Braille on plaque. Plaque for Five Mile Creek Pathway may go on interpretive signage (TBD). 4. Discuss: Next Steps for Sidewalk Poetry Project Idea Development Invite St. Paul arts group to present at November 15th PAC meeting. Limit discussion to 1 hour and leave 1 hour for further discussion if needed (2-hour limit in budget). If they’re not available, cancel 11/15 PAC meeting and reschedule for a time/date the arts group is available. 5. Planning: Discovery Park Public Art Project Gas lines under selected green space, which will limit depth underground (foundation for freestanding piece). The PAC decided to select artists and let them work with Parks and Rec to identify the appropriate location, including a virtual or in-person site tour. The PAC decided to see which artists are selected for the roster before deciding whether to use one of them or release a separate RFQ for this project. Note: discuss potential public art project at new fire station/police station next to Discovery Park. NEXT MEETING - November 15, 2022 ADJOURNMENT Lizzie Taylor motioned to adjourn, J. Peters seconded, all ayes. 4 Item 1.
