Assumptions:
2. Dwelling Units are the additional units in a year based on the building permits that were issued in that year. Age restrictioned units are included; preliminary plat data is not.
Updated 10/31/2022
5. Kuna High School has 1400 seats and 1860 students enrolled. Swan Falls HS is a career/tech campus with 500 seat capacity. Career/tech program capacity is not typically included in general capacity as students are transported there throughout the day for various programs. Per Kuna School District, Swan Falls HS does help alleviate Kuna High School overcrowding, but it does not solve the problem entirely.
Schools Impacted
1. Capacity and Enrollment are based on data from the Kuna School District (KSD). 3. Estimated 2022 Dwelling Units is based on the assumption that the remainder of the year growth will continue at the same rate it has been year to date.4. School attendance areas analyzed are based on school year 22-23 KSD attendance areas at the time of analysis. Attendance areas can change anytime during or between school years.
MEMO TO CITY COUNCIL AND PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION
From: Miranda Carson, Comprehensive Associate Coordination Planner
Topic: Community Development: School Impact Table for Hadler Neighborhood AZ, PP H-2022-0064A School Impact table has been created to highlight schools likely to be impacted and provide growth information based on the residential development application. This tool provides building permit data in the areas affected by an application to enhance future planning for both the City and the School District. The table is below for your review, and it is intended as a reference, rather than a decisive, tool. This table contains data only from the City of Meridian Area of Impact, and it is not inclusive of county and City of Kuna growth in the Kuna School District (KSD). Therefore the table unfortunately cannot provide a complete picture of KSD's impact. I did speak with the planner, Robbie Reno, at KSD. He said KSD cannot take anymore students, and Kuna High School is already significantly over capacity. Per Mr. Reno there are several other developments already approved in Kuna that the district is trying to work through how to absorb. I encouraged Mr. Reno to send a letter on the impact to KSD.
