I am strongly opposed to H-2022-0051
My name is Linda Whitney. I live in the Strada Bellissima development which is directly
across the street from the proposed development.
This proposal is totally insane. The intersection of Meridian and Victory is already
extremely busy. ACHD estimates Klein Huis will add another 1340 vehicle trips per day. I
know the developer wants to add a couple extra turn lanes. What a stupid idea. We
already often have difficulty getting out of our neighborhood at certain times of the
day. And with all of the other developments going on in both directions along Victory,
those time frames that we have difficulty keep expanding. Now some developer from
Utah wants to dump over 1300 more trips into that extremely busy intersection. You all
know that Victory is a two lane road don't you??? It's not going to change. And our
entrance is only 650 feet from that busy intersection. The tiny house entrance is right
across the street from our entrance. Those two short turn lanes will be useless to us. If
anything, more lanes will make the intersection more dangerous as people jockey for
position. Imagine people turning right on Victory during heavy traffic times, then 600 feet
later trying to turn left into the tiny house development with eastbound traffic on Victory
backed up to the sketchy S-curve which is between Meridian Rd and Stoddard. That
developer could care less about our traffic problems. They'll just take their money and run
back to Utah. The extra turn lanes are a joke! I say "NO" to this proposal.
My number one objection is traffic and safety.
Another objection is displacing the wildlife using that land. That parcel has been used
by wildlife for many years. According to the Meridian Nature Reserve, many species of
birds have been recorded as using that property including a large number of birds
protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. I enjoy seeing the birds. I've seen the tiny
house developments in Arizona. They're awful. I did not enjoy seeing them. They will do
nothing to enhance our community. There are plenty of apartments being built all over the
area. Why destroy a beautiful, natural open space?
Keep the birds and other wildlife and say "NO" to the tiny houses with the BIG traffic
problem.

Why do we have to keep going through this nonsense with developers when the problems
and objections are the same? Why not create a permanent solution for that property by
creating some sort of nature preserve that would not only benefit our neighborhood but
would also benefit the city of Meridian?
Respectfully,
Linda Whitney
