To the decisionmakers: The last time there was a move to develop this property I made input. All the issues remain from the last time. The unsafe access to and from the property for hundreds of cars per day at the intersection on Victory Road as well as the Meridian Road intersection during busiest times of the day, going to and from work for those that would live there. The issue with the schools being able to accommodate a large addition to roles. As a concerned Meridian resident I am not opposed to housing development per se, but see this proposed development as a serious risk to the safety and quality of life to all who pass through the Meridian Road/Victory Road area. What is different this time is a chance for Meridian to add a most unique wild life habit and historic section of land right inside the city limits. I read the regular Meridian newsletter and see that the city is always looking for ways to add parks and public use areas. This one is a gem like no other in the city. th While I would like to be at the meeting on the 20, I will be traveling out of state during that timeframe. So please add my name and voice to the support of rejecting the requested zoning change and my wish to fully support the city capturing this property as another place for the people of Meridian to savor and enjoy as part of our great quality of life. I understand the adjacent landowner is willing to provide access to the local neighbors and the public through their property to provide their support. I also understand the local Audubon Society is actively engaged to working toward the Reserve idea. I urge the City Council to do the right thing for all of the residents of Meridian and reject the zoning change request and further implore them to take the first steps to capturing this property for all to enjoy.
