To the planning and zoning committee of Meridian I am a 5th generation Idahoan and have lived in Meridian since 1994. I remember when Meridian was around 9000 people and one high school. The roads to Eagle and Kuna were two lanes. Meridian has changed and has faced the challenges of growth. For the proposed 134 Multi-Family Rental Homes up for R-15 Zoning does not fit well in the Meridian planning for the Corner of Victory and Meridian road. 134 Homes means 268 to 402 cars trying to access Victory road on a corner that is two lane and already congested. With the curve that creates a blind spot for on coming traffic will make this intersection less safe and more congested. During Peak commute hours in the morning the traffic is already almost backed up from Overland to Victory on Meridian road and is only going to get worse with development along the corridor to Kuna. The east side of Victory, across from Legacy feed and fuel and red tail complex, is also a challenge with buses stopping to pick up kids for school. I do not see this complex as smart growth for this area. On Overland between Stoddard and Ten Miles has 5 lanes of traffic and it feels at capacity in the peak commute times. I do not see how 2 lanes of traffic in this location is going to be void of accidents and congestion. Please consider a different zoning for this corner for the sake of young children trying to navigate this intersection. For the area, especially on Overland Road, the city is meeting the affordable housing demands with better road infrastructure to handle the capacity of all the new traffic. I ask the Comity to stick with its comments that this is incompatible with the future land use map and there is no connectivity to adjoining neighborhoods. 1
