To The City of Meridian: I am writing to oppose the proposal to build the Klein Huis at Victory and Meridian AZ, CUP H-2022-0051. My concerns as a long time resident in the Bear Creek subdivision include the following: 1. The traffic on Victory is already significant, and that curve with even more added traffic from a subdivision adding hundreds of cars is just asking for accidents, and potential fatalities, especially in winter, with our often snowy and icy driving conditions, since we cannot predict what the weather will do from year to year. 2. We already have a large amount of vehicle traffic in the neighboring subdivisions that use ours as ‘short cuts’ when traffic is too extensive on the main roads like Victory, Stoddard, etc. Our children play, ride bikes, skate and deserve safe places to play, which is what the people of this community paid for when purchasing our homes. Adding hundreds of cars to the roads isnt protecting the childrens safety. 3. Our schools are already too full. Adding even more children wont help the situation. 4. The area being considered for this subdivision isnt zoned for that many homes. The subdivisions immediately nearby are all R4-8, and putting such high density unowned homes will lower property values which for many of us is our primary retirement investment. We already pay high property taxes in these investments and IF more homes must be built would much prefer to see similar homes to keep the value of our investments stable and increasing. 5. We need a natural area in the south part of Meridian south of the freeway. This plot of land along the canal would be ideal to create a nature reserve, as it already attracts birds and other wildlife which is one of the things people move to Idaho to experience. Having a nature reserve right there, so close to the freeway and to some of schools and communities would only add to the education of our children and our community, as well as bring in tax $$ from people visiting our area to experience the wildlife, and learn about the history of the canal and agriculture in the Treasure Valley. Thank you for your consideration, Sean Forney. 1
