Hello, We are voicing our concerns on the proposed H-2022-0051. We live in the Bear Creek subdivision. Bear Creek borders the proposed development. 1. Meridian Road is already so congested that it is backed up to Victory Road every weekday morning. Victory Road is backed up so that the parents picking up students from Victory Middle School every afternoon have Stoddard blocked. You can only turn right from our subdivision or take the dangerous chance of exiting our subdivision by turning left onto Meridian Road and crossing oncoming traffic with a speed limit of 55 mph. We need access using Victory Road to turn left onto Meridian Road safely using traffic signals. That is already difficult during busy times. 2. The schools are already so crowded that our elementary aged children are being bussed over 30 minutes each way and our high school aged children are bussed to Meridian High School. 3. Corporate owned rental units are usually occupied by transitory renters who are not committed to being part of our community. This is not consistent with the vision the Meridian City government 4. Traffic planning for Meridian Road and the intersections at Overland Road, Victory Road, and the congestion accessing I84 would need to be addressed. This proposed development would place undo stress on the traffic that is already on these roads. 5. Rental units in our area are growing at an alarming pace, including all of the already planned units along Overland Road between Stoddard and Ten Mile. Do we really need more? 6. If that land must be developed, the FLUM plan should be followed and single family units should be planned. Prospective buyers of homes in this area rely on this plan when they are considering where to purchase a home. 7. My hope would be that the land is acquired by the City of Meridian and used as open space with a series of walking paths. This could potentially be used by the k-12 school system to study bird migration, ecological studies and a myriad of other ways. Field trips should be considered. We moved to Meridian, Idaho over 20 years ago and have seen the tremendous growth and marveled about how Meridian is now a big city but has managed to maintain that small town vibe. Responsible growth is needed and encouraged. This proposed development is neither. Please vote no on this development plan.
