Narrative Letter - Well 29 V2irE IDIIZAN.0 c- IDAHO August 1, 2022 City of Meridian Planning and Zoning 33 E. Broadway Ave. Meridian, Idaho 83642 To Whom It May Concern: Mayor Robert E. Simison City Council Members: Treg Bernt Brad Hoaglun Joe Borton Jessica Perreault Luke Cavener Liz Strader Please find attached a Conditional Use Permit Application for a communication tower at 6355 W. Quintale Drive, parcel No. R6206910120 in Meridian, Ada County, Idaho. The parcel is a City of Meridian owned lot with an approximate 0.449 of acreage located in a R-8 Zone within the Oaks West Subdivision and is the site for an existing municipal water well facility. • The proposed communication tower is planned to be a 100-foot tall lattice structure building constructed with hot -dipped galvanized metal sections. This facility will have a radio used for communicating with water meter readers and the existing tower at the City of Meridian Water Department. The new tower building will be situated near the center of the lot which is fenced. The tower design and location will be coordinated with the subdivision HOA. • The tower is in compliance with FCC and FAA regulations. It is more than 20,000 ft from the closest airport or other FAA regulated runway or helipad. Where and why this project does and doesn't meet the standards in the City's specific use standards: • There aren't any existing communication towers in the area to request permission to use. • This request is for a lattice style communication tower that would be 99 feet from McDermott Road, 85 feet from W. Qunitale Drive, 76 feet from the common lot to the east (101 feet from the residential property to the east), and 99 feet from the City of Meridian parcel to the south. o The reason the City is requesting the lattice style tower is to keep cost down for the rate payers. • The Meridian Fire Department ladder truck will be able to drive right up to the tower inside the well lot. • The City isn't planning on sharing this tower with other cellular companies and would like to be exempt from this requirement. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Jared Hale Public Works Department . 33 E. Broadway Avenue, Suite 200, Meridian, ID 83642 Phone 208-898-5500 .
