INTRODUCTION
The existing 12 . 32-acre site for the proposed Movado Subdivision Phase 2B is currently vacant
agricultural ground . The proposed development includes 64 single family residential lots, 7 common
lots, and associated private roads, landscaping, parking, and utilities .
HISTORIC DRAINAGE
The existing project site sits southwest of the intersection of E . Overland Road and S . Cloverdale Road
and just north of 8 Mile Creek . Historically the site drains from northwest to southeast to 8 Mile Creek .
Surficial soils are comprised of lean clays, silt, and silty sand . At depths of 6 -8 feet, free draining sand
and gravels were encountered during geotechnical exploration . Groundwater was not encountered at
depths up to 14' nor has groundwater been observed over the past 10 months in piezometers that were
installed on site .
Because of the presence of free draining materials and the depth to groundwater, the site is suitable for
the use of infiltration facilities .
PROPOSED DRAINAGE
The storm drainage calculations and design for the proposed improvements are intended to meet the
requirements of the City of Meridian and ACHD storm water policies . Storm water facilities are designed
to store and treat runoff from a 100-year storm event and to pretreat the water quality volume defined
as the 80'h percentile storm event . Storm water runoff from rooftops and shared drive aisles is conveyed
to private roads within the development .
For Basins # 1 and # 2 ( see attached drainage basin map ), storm water is conveyed via curb and gutter to
drain inlets within the roadway then piped to underground seepage beds where it is treated and finally
infiltrated . Sand and grease traps will be installed to provide pre-treatment for the water quality event .
Overflow runoff will be directed straight to the seepage bed by means of an overflow manhole .
For Basins #3 and #4, temporary ponds will store the 100-year storm event . These ponds are located at
the terminus of Phase 2B construction . Future seepage beds constructed in Phase 4B will eventually
store, treat, and infiltrate the runoff from these two basins
