Schiffler presented the selection panel’s averaged score results for the 32 RFQ applicants, in order of highest scores to lowest scores. Many of the averaged scores were very close in scoring, and so the selection panel reviewed each of the top quarter of the applications for consideration. Discussion of the applicants included the applicant’s qualifications, previous projects, and previous project’s budgets in relation to the $50,000 budget for this project. Also considered current artwork in Meridian’s collection by local artists, and the selection panel decided not to recommend artists that already have a strong presence of artwork in the Treasure Valley, as they would like to see representation in the public art collection by a variety of artists. After discussing each application of the top applicants, a vote was proposed on the six applications that seemed to be most favorable, and by a show 3 Item 1. of hands, the following four finalists were selected to move forward to the RFP stage: Andrew Kovacs, Eileen Gay, Michael McLaughlin, and Steve Parker.
