Week Budget Planning
The subcommittee welcomed Michelle Glaze, a member of the community that held
a position on the Arts Commission in the past, and has worked on Art Week in
many previous years.
The subcommittee reviewed several documents from Art Week in past years and
discussed planning and scheduling for 2022, including event details for things such
as: a potential kick off event, the classes, the chalk art competition with music by
Sam (who performed before) and a performance by the Huckleberry Star Theater
if that company is willing, the Meridian Art Foundation’s Art Sip, and the Art
Awards presented at the Sep 10 Concert on Broadway.
Michelle Glaze volunteered to reach out to all class instructors, Sam, the proposed
musician, and various business and to schedule and coordinated various events for
Art Week.
C. Schiffler reviewed various Art Week budget expenses for classes (around
$1,000, the musician $200, chalk art awards, and marketing). There is money
remaining in the budget and C. Schiffler proposed community led projects that
could be proposed through an RFP process.
J. Cavaness-Williams motioned to approve the remaining Art Week budget (after
expenses for classes, musical performance expenses, marketing and art awards)
towards 2-3 small scale art projects proposed by community with $300-$800
budgets that will be open for proposals though an RFP that C. Schiffer will develop.
P. O’Leary seconded the motion. All ayes.
