PZ - Narrative January, 14 2022 Subject: Narative I am interested in establishing a Meridian city-permitted, state-certified childcare within my new home at 1322 E Grand Canyon St, Meridian. A family childcare requires a Meridian special use permit, and would allow me to care for more than six children under age 13. I’ve also included some basic information below. I already have a permit of six children, but with the kids that I’m taking care, now that I’m having another baby is going to be over six kids that’s why I need one permit for over six children. How do Family Child Care Homes operate? Although I will determine my own program services, hours (within Meridian city code), and fees, most family child care programs operate weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. My husband Eric and I will provide transportation for the children. This will prevent parking concerns or extra traffic on our street. If a parent needs to visit, they will be instructed to park in our driveway, and to be quiet, not honk or create a nuisance. I will not be making any exterior or physical changes to our property (no signs, visible structures etc). My family and I are just moving to Meridian after owning a home in Boise for three years, where I successfully ran a small, permitted and state-certified childcare business. I will always be compliant with state and local childcare regulations, which include: CPR/First Aid certification, minimum of 12 hours of annual childcare classes, and current Idaho and federal background checks for all members of my household 13 years or older. I also carry liability insurance. My husband Eric is also employed with my childcare business, and follows the same training and certification requirements as I do. When children are in my care, I will be responsible for their supervision at all times. I anticipate outdoor play time to be limited to one hour after 9 am and one hour after 1 pm, and noise will be kept below the maximum stipulated by Meridian city code. I do not anticipate that my small childcare will create any inconvenience for my neighbors.
