Re: Discovery Park Phase 2
Certificate of Zoning Compliance Application Narrative
On behalf of the Meridian Parks and Recreation Department; we are pleased to submit this CZC
application for proposed improvements at Discovery Park. As you know, this is an existing park
at the south side of E Lake Hazel Road, between S Eagle Rd and S Locust Grove Rd. The Park
parcel is 76.88 acres with phase one developing approximately 23 acres of the total. This phase
two proposes approximately 40 acres of additional development.
A CDA is being developed for E Lake Hazel Road improvements. This Park currently has 145
parking spaces. We propose adding another 516 parking spaces. In addition to parking, phase
two proposes the following improvements:
Extend new collector road from northern property boundary bordering the fire station
to new drive access.
Extend interior private access drive to new collector road.
Add new 12‐stall restroom and concession building.
Add new dual dumpster trash enclosure.
Add three picnic shelters.
Add three softball fields, two of which have lighting.
Add six pickleball and two tennis courts.
Add dual 40‐yard dash lanes with electronic timing.
Add two bocce courts.
Add one full basketball court
Add community garden space
Add one sand volleyball court
Add hammock hanging area with 18 poles.
Add skate park area. This will be design/build, size TBD.
Add walking paths.
Add eight bike racks for 16 phase two spaces. Provided and installed by owner
Drinking fountains, trash receptacles, benches, and other furnishings by owner.
