Community Communications update Transfer station recycling area signs are complete and the site is open. The area is also under surveillance. 3. Commercial Recycling Contamination Fee Republic brought forth the need for a fee to cover the contaminated recycling for commercial customers. Staff stated that it should be a progressive fee. Conversation focused on generation and the effects of COVID. OLD BUSINESS [ACTION ITEMS] NEW BUSINESS [ACTION ITEMS] 2. Anaerobic Digestion Presentation The presentation centered on types of anaerobic digestion, areas suitable for a digester, feedstock requirements, and collection types for digestible material. Page 2 of 2 All Materials presented at public meetings shall become property of the City of Meridian Commission voted to have staff continue to review digestion and return with a plan and recommendation. 3. Republic Cart Recycling Presentation Republic Services went over the lifecycle of the residential trash cart. Republic noted that cart can be repaired multiple times before their lifecycle ends. Republic then recycles the carts with the manufacturer. 4. Multifamily Recycling Conversation centered on the ways to deliver recycling to multifamily residences, the obstacles associated with these and the possible code changes that would need to happen. The Commission voted to have staff continue to pursue this and report back with plan. 5. Commercial Food Waste Reduction This item was covered by Item 2.
